Inaugurates Faculty Development Programme In HMV
Jalandhar: A week long Faculty Development Programme on ‘Recent Trends & Advancements in Research in the Field of Languages and Social Sciences’ started in Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya today.
The inaugural session was chaired by a renowned Punjabi poet Padamshree Dr.Surjit Patar.
On the occasion, Mrs.Kuljit Kaur from the Department of Punjabi recited a poem which covered the whole life history of the famous poet.
Before that the Principal Prof.Dr (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, the conveners of FDP Mrs.Mamta and Mrs.Kawaljit Kaur welcomed the guest by presenting a bouquet to him. Mrs.Mamta, Head of the Dept of English, put light on recent trends in research in the field of languages and social sciences. She also briefed the audience about how this FDP will help them in the research.
Padamshree Dr. Surjit Patar, the keynote speaker of the session, stressed upon the significance of silence in communication, upon not what is spoken but what is unspoken. He also said earlier the words were used to express someone, but now they are used to hide them. Besides, he explained the importance of mother tongue in life through his poems. He concluded the session by reciting one of his famous poems ‘Kachh da galaas’ creating splendid ambience.
The afternoon session was chaired by Mr. Daljit Ami, a professional film maker. He was welcomed by Mrs. Mamta and others with a bouquet of flowers. Mr. Ami discussed how the art of film making links the past with the present by putting light on how we can shoot the documentaries. He also showed the audience a documentary on the partition of the country and shared his views with the audience on the techniques of making historical documentaries.
