Making this explicit while chairing a meeting of the representatives of top notch companies here today, the Local Government Minister, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu said that the main aim of this marathon exercise is to work out modalities and formulate a comprehensive strategy for implementing e-Governance concept in the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) which would be undertaken in a phased manner. He also instructed the departmental officers to have a relook at the data available with it and ensure that the information contained in the Request for Proposal (RFP) is correct and up-to-date.

Divulging more, the minister said that the project has been bifurcated into various phases and to make sure that it runs smoothly, the first phase has been further divided into 4 sub phases. He also elaborated that performance would be the sole criteria and the project would be awarded to a company only as per the merit and quality. He also rued the fact that had the previous dispensation paid attention to this aspect, the RFP would not have failed 4 times.
