Chandigarh, December 15, 2017: National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)-Approved Training Partner Orane held a Grand Convocation at Chandigarh on Friday for conferring Diplomas and Certificates to 600 students who had recently completed training at the Orane Institute of Beauty and Wellness network.

The Diplomas to the students were presented by Shri RaveenThukral, Media Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab and Chief Guest at the function. NSDC Chief Financial Officer Shri Prakash Sharma, and Tata STRIVE Head – Programme Development & Partnerships, Shri Sudhakar Gudipati, who were Guests of Honor at the event, also gave away some Certificates.

Addressing students at the ceremony, Media Advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister, Shri Raveen Thukral said, “I would like to congratulate all the students who are receiving their Diplomas and Certificates today and wish them the very best for the future. I am sure that the quality training they have received at Orane will help them find the jobs of their choice or become self-employed in the fast-growing beauty and wellness domain, and, in the process, provide a fillip to the Ghar Ghar Rozgar mission of the state government.”

Echoing the sentiment, NSDC Chief Financial Officer, Shri Prakash Sharma, said that skills can act as the gateway for better futures. Urging students to keep upgrading themselves, Mr. Sharma pointed out that they should not just look at being job-seekers but also try to become job-creators. The NSDC and its leading Partner institutions like Orane would facilitate the entrepreneurial ambitions of students, he added.

In his address, Tata STRIVE Head – Programme Development & Partnerships, Shri Sudhakar Gudipati, said that Tata STRIVE was pleased to roll out its Youth Development Module - a comprehensive soft skills training program designed to address the employability challenges faced by youth despite having domain knowledge – at the Orane Institute of Beauty and Wellness. “Instilling self-belief and self-confidence in the youth is the hallmark of our programme and we believe that the Orane-Tata STRIVE association would be immensely beneficial for students.”

Speaking on the occasion, Orane Co-Founder & CEO, Mr. Dinesh Sood, said, “As an organization obsessed with quality, Orane has always focused on providing international best-in-class training to its students. Through our associations with the NSDC, besides the Switzerland-based CIDESCO and UK-based CIBTAC - the world’s most reputed bodies in beauty training - and most recently our tie-up with Tata STRIVE, besides our other affiliations, Orane has been tirelessly moving forward in its mission of empowering 200,000 youths and women by 2020 through quality training in beauty and wellness.”

“As part of our continuing efforts to lend momentum to the Indian beauty and wellness sector and create job opportunities for our youths, I am happy to share with you that Orane is set to launch 50 stand-alone salons in Punjab over the next few months which would generate employment for at least 300 people, the majority being young women,” Mr. Sood added.

The Convocation Ceremony also witnessed a fashion show which was choreographed and organized by the students of Orane. The fashion show was based on the theme, “Runway to Reality” which showcased Pakistani bridal wear, including their traditional wear which is already making an impact on the international market. Students strutted down the ramp in the collection that they had designed.

Besides, the students also gave a performance on the theme of women empowerment, which was received very well by the audience.
