Jalandhar, May 21, 2017: 22nd Senior National Women's Football Championship is being played at DAV College Jalandhar. It is being organised by Punjab State Football Association.
Two matches were played on Sunday, the first match played between Delhi and Bihar resulted in a draw. No goal was scored in this match. The second match was played between Manipur and Karnataka, in which Manipur beat Karnataka with the huge margin of 9-0.
Punjab is hosting this championship for the first time and the responsibility to organise the tournament is given to DAV College Jalandhar.
Expressing his excitement towards the championship, principal Dr. S.K. Arora said, "We are proud to host the tournament on behalf of our college as we've always encouraged our students to participate in sports seriously.”
The head of the physical education department Dr. Manu Sood also expressed his gratitude towards Punjab State Football Association for giving DAV the chance to organise the championship. He said he would not leave any stone unturned to make this event successful. Professor Saurabh from physical education department was also present during the matches.
