Ludhiana Rural Police bust 6-member gang involved in extortion cases; Recover arms & ammunition

Ludhiana, July 4, 2017: A police party has busted a gang of criminals involved into extortion in Ludhiana (Rural) police district. Some arms and ammunitions have been recovered from possession of six arrested accused.
According to an official information, a police party headed by Inspector Jarnail Singh, SHO Police Station City Raikot under the direct supervision of Surjeet Singh, DSP, Raikot was on night patrolling when the accused were apprehended.
The accused have been identified as Pawandeep Singh @ Peet r/o Birmi, Ludhiana; Lakhwinder Singh @ Laddi r/o Issewal; Paramveer Singh @ Happy r/o Issewal; Sukhdeep Singh @ Tidda @ Bacchi r/o Mansura; Varinder Kaur @ Rajdeep Kaur r/o Birmi, Ludhiana; and Sarban Singh r/o Pabbian now Herran, Ludhiana.
The accused have been arrested under a special campaign launched against bad and anti-social elements by Surjeet Singh, SSP Ludhiana (Rural) and on directions by Pirthipal Singh, SP (Inv) Ludhiana (Rural).
The accused were apprehended from Stadium Talwandi road Raikot.
One country made pistol along with 2 live rounds, sharp-edged weapons, 3 motorcycles, 10 mobile phones and gold jewellery were recovered from the accused.
An FIR under Sections 399/402 of the IPC and under Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused at Police Station Raikot.
Police claimed to have solved some other cases of crime with these arrests.
During preliminary investigation, the accused confessed of their involvement in other mobile snatching cases committed at various places such as Birmi, Fagla, Sehbajpura, Kutba, Boparai, Sujapur, Atiana, Jhammat, Dakha, Noorpura, Talwandi Rai and Issewal Canal Bridge.
With these arrests Jagroan Police traced 21 criminal cases related to Ludhiana(Rural) and other districts.
Further investigations are in progress and more disclosures are likely to be made.
