KMV to organise INSPIRE from Nov 18-22

Jalandhar, November 17, 2014: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organising INSPIRE (Innovation in Scientific Pursuit for Inspired Research) Internship Programme from November 18 to 22.

Addressing the media persons Principal Prof Atima Sharma said that KMV was the first college in this part of the region to successfully host the first INSPIRE Programme in 2011. This is the fifth consecutive Inspire camp being hosted by KMV. KMV will continue to promote such programmes for the cause of serving society and making our nation strong by empowering to-day’s young generation through quality education and skill development.

INSPIRE is a prestigious Internship Program implemented by DST (Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi).  It has been specially designed by the Govt. of India to inspire students to pursue natural science streams and to strengthen the National Science and Technology base in India.  Scheme for Early Attraction of Talent (SEATS) aims to attract the youth  towards Science. Top 1% students of X Board 2014 exams are eligible for participating in this camp. So the brilliant students of CBSE, PSEB and ICSE will have the honour of joining the camp.  As many as 204 students from around 34 schools of Punjab are going to be a part of the five-day residential camp which will be comprising a potpourri of lectures and practical sessions on the latest in the field of Science.

Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal; will be the Chief Guest for the Inaugural Session, Dr Sushma Chopra, Secretary, Arya Shiksha Mandal will be the Guest of Honour for the Inaugural session and Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Bedi, Director, Satyam Institute of Engineering and Technology, Amritsar affiliated to Panjab Technical University, Jalandhar  will preside over the same on November 18 at 09:30 a.m.

She mentioned that the camp will be a ground for healthy interaction between the mentors and the students through lectures related to scientific success stories and joys of innovation across all streams of science that in turn would stimulate their curiosity and attract them at an early age to pursue their career in science.  The students will be given ample exposure as invited fellows will interact with them through lectures and personal interactive sessions in an exclusive set up during the camp. Visit to Science City, KMV Botanical Garden and Museum will be an integral part of the program of the 5-day camp.

Camps like INSPIRE help to bring awareness among the young science students to choose right career and to enlighten them about the recent development in science and technology.  Research in science education is important, as it leads to progress in education, which further leads to progress of society and strength of a nation.
