Khanna, October 15, 2017: Khanna police claimed to have recovered old currency notes worth of Rupees 55 lakhs and 33 thousand in two different incidents in and around Khanna within last 24 hours. A total 14 accused have been detained in these cases.
CASE ONE
In first case, the Khanna police claimed that they got a tip-off that near about half a dozen persons in three cars are roaming in suspicious circumstances in an area at Amloh Road Khanna and they have old currency in their possession also.Swung into action a police party moved towards to the site.
After a short struggle the police party overpowered all the accused and when the police party searched the cars they found 55 lakhs old currency from their possession .The accused have been identified as Ajit Kumar and Pavittar Singh both are the residents of Khanna, Surinder Singh of Kalsh Khurd of Koomkalan, Partap Singh of Chandigarh, Principal Bansal of Manimajra, Gurjeet Singh and Bhagwan Singh are the residents of Kheribhekhi village of Fathehgarh Sahib district.
CASE TWO
In second case, a police party from Khanna also nabbed seven persons with old currency of Rs.33,000. As per the information given by SSP, Khanna, the police got a tip off that some persons in two cars were in city for delivering old currency to some persons. On this a police party moved towards to the site and apprehended the suspects and during search of the cars Rs.33,000 old currency notes were recovered.

Khanna SSP told that the accused in both the cases had brought the old currency notes from Delhi side and they were looking at a chance to deliver the assignment in Khanna and its periphery but before they had delivered it the police party nabbed them. The accused have been identified as Varinder Kumar of Khanna, Bhola Singh Mehalpur, Ram Lubhaya, Sanjeev Kumar, Tajinder Singh, Mukhwinder Singh all the residents of Nawanshahr and another accused Lovleen Saini is the resident of Hoshiarpur.
He added that they have registered a case under the Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Act 2017 against all the accused in this regard.
