Phagwara, March 8, 2014: To celebrate International Women’s Day, Community health Centre (CHC) Bara Pind today organised a special function under the guidance of Senior Medical Officer Dr Balwinder Singh Kahlon at its campus. Delivering a lecture to audience of nursing students, ASHA workers and staff, Homeopathic Medical Officer Dr Seema Rajan,  said that in today’s world women have to contribute both at home as well as in work place. Attributing success of women in different spheres to their sheer hard work, she said that it was shameful that ills like female foeticide still exist in the Indian society. “In some homes female is still not a preferable child,” he said, urging the women to fight for her rights.

Praising role played by women in society, Block Extension Educator Preetinder Singh said that in last few decades women have progressed by leaps and bounds and attained important positions in education and jobs.  He asked the audience to work together to fight against female foeticide. Health Supervisor Harbhajan Kaur and Chief Pharmacist Satpal Shah were among the prominent present on the occasion.
