IAS PROBATIONERS GET TRAINING AT PAU

Ludhiana, May 17, 2017: A one-day training course was organized at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) probationers. The course was supervised by the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU.

The Chief Guest, Dr G.S.Buttar, Additional Director of Extension Education, PAU, exhorted the trainees to disseminate PAU developed technologies to every farmer of Punjab.

Giving details, Dr T.S. Riar, Course Coordinator, PAU, said the experts informed the trainees about plant breeding and genetics, agricultural economics, food science and technology, vegetable and fruit sciences, and microbiology. The trainees also visited Food Industry Centre and Crops Museum at PAU.

The resource persons from PAU included Dr Sarvjeet Singh, Additional Director of Research (Crop Improvement); Dr K.S. Thind, Head, Plant Breeding and Genetics; Dr Poonam A. Sachdev, Head, Food Science and Technology; Dr P K Sahota, Head, Microbiology; Dr Suresh Jindal, vegetable science expert; Dr J.S. Brar, fruit science expert; and Dr M.S. Sidhu, a farm economist.

Later, Dr Rupinder Kaur, Co-Coordinator of the course, proposed the vote of thanks.
