Green Trends Salon and Raj Hair International Donate 250 Wigs to Adyar Cancer Institute as part of Tangled 2016 Hair Donation Drive

Chennai, June 28, 2017: In a show of support and honouring cancer survivors, Green Trends Salon in association with Raj Hair International today donated 250 natural hair wigs to Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai; this was part of Project Tangled, a hair donation drive which is an annual flagship CSR initiative of Green Trends Salon conceptualized in association with Rotaract students from Women’s Christian College.
Instituted on World Cancer Day 2014, this hair donation drive aims to collect hair from donors to make wigs made from natural human hair for distribution to the needy. The hair donation drive aims to boost the confidence of cancer survivors who experience hair loss due to chemotherapy treatment by providing natural hair wigs
The wigs were handed over to Dr. V. Shanta, Chairperson – Adyar Cancer Institute.
“Tangled is a CSR initiative that is very close to our heart at Green Trends,” said Mr. Deepak Praveen, COO, Green Trends Salon. “We have devised specific processes to ensure that the donor’s existing hair style is not affected while donating hair. Further special training has been extended to over 2,000 plus stylists across Green Trends salons to facilitate collection of hair from donors. Since its inception, the project has received an overwhelming response with more than 4,000 people donating hair that went into the creation of 370 wigs”
“Year-on-year, the magnitude of this project has been consistently increasing with more donors coming forward to be part of this initiative. The estimated cost of a wig is Rs.15,000, which is not affordable for many, with this initiative we are able to extend support to those who are in need. Every year, the entire team at Green Trends salon look forward to this program ,the success of this initiative lies in the combined efforts of the greentrends salon team, our franchisee’s and our partners, Raj Hair International and Adyar Cancer Institute who have extended tremendous support in ensuring the cause reaches many at large. The hair donation drive was undertaken across Green Trends salons nationally apart from camps conducted at various educational institutes. The hair donation camps are conducted in the month of February, during this period Green Trends Salon provides an opportunity for donors to participate in the noble cause by visiting any of its salons to donate hair .Announcements would be made during the launch of the program for donors to participate.
