DRDA sewing centre starts at Village Nathowal

Raikot (Ludhiana): With an aim to make girls of rural areas self dependent, to create more job avenues for them and working towards women empowerment, the District Rural Development Authority (DRDA) Ludhiana has started the DRDA Sewing Centre at village Nathowal. This DRDA Sewing Centre was inaugurated by Block Development and Panchayat Officer Raikot Mrs Rupinderjit Kaur and Assistant Project Officer Mr Avtar Singh today.
    While addressing the gathering on the occasion, Mrs Rupinderjit Kaur said that to make girls of rural areas self dependent, to create more job avenues for them is real women empowerment. She said that several initiatives in this regard have been started by the District Administration Ludhiana. She said that the girls who train at this DRDA Sewing Centre would be benefitted financially to a large extent.
    Assistant Project Officer Mr Avtar Singh said that DRDA is committed to provide job avenues for people residing in rural areas of the district. He also spoke about several welfare schemes in detail and assured that under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mrs Amrit Singh, several development projects would also be started in the village shortly so that maximum number of people can avail benefits of government welfare schemes.
    On this occasion, Block Samiti Raikot Chairman Mr Kirpal Singh Buttar and District Public Relations Officer Mr Prabhdeep Singh Nathowal informed the gathering about several development projects being run by the village gram panchayat, Nathowal Welfare Society, Clubs and NRIs in village Nathowal. They said that for the overall development of village, initiatives would continue with the active support of other people.
    It is pertinent to mention that this course would be of six months duration and would be completely free of cost. Upon the completion of this course, the students would be given certificates by the District Administration and these certificates would be valid for getting jobs too.
    Prominent among those present on the occasion included MGNREGA District Coordinator Mrs Sonia, Sarpanch Mrs Jasvir Kaur, former sarpanch Mrs Gupreet Kaur, Mr Jagpreet Singh Buttar, Mr Kulwant Singh, Mr Manpreet Singh Buttar, Mr Amarjit Singh retired ASI, Mr Piara Singh, Mr Swaran Singh, besides a large number of students./(Feb 20)
