District Consumer Forum announces to pay fine

Ferozepur, August 16, 2012 :  The District Consumer Forum, Ferozepur, on the complaint filed by Surinder Singh son of Daulat Singh resident of Basti Kamboj Nagar, Ferozepur City, have announced to pay a fine of Rs.25,000 and Rs.2,500 as litigation charges by Amritsar Crown Private Limited, GT Road, Jandiala Guru, Amritsar (Coca Cola Company) and M/s Aneja Trading Company, outside Multani Gate, Ferozepur City to the complainant.

Naveen Puri, counsel of complainant Surinder Singh informed that it was alleged in the complaint that on January 2, 2012, he purchased two Maza bottles and other articles, from M/s Arora General Store, outside Zira Gate, Ferozepur City .  He further stated that the moment Surinder Singh, complainant had consumed Maza bottle, he fell ill as the bottle was containing cobweb and he has spent Rs.10,000 on his treatment.

 The complainant approached the dealer to replace the second bottle and he was advised to contact Aneja Trading Company.  As per the statement of complainant, neither the shopkeeper nor the dealer, attended to his complaint with the result he has to move to the Consumer Forum. 

While filing the petition before the Forum, the complainant demanded compensation of Rs.70,000, treatment expenses Rs.10,000 and Rs.550 as court case charges. 

Announcing the decision, the District Consumer Forum, Ferozepur, G.P.Singh, president, Tarlok Singh and Meena Bishnoi, members have ordered Amritsar Crown Company Private Limited and Aneja Trading Company, to Rs.25,000 as compensation and Rs.2500 as litigation charges, by taking the one-sided decision.  Coca Cola Company and Aneja Trading Company in their defence have said that the charges levelled against the company for finding a cobweb in Maza bottles does not arise.
