Bangalore, November 8, 2017: Worldwide, diabetes is estimated to rise 55% over the next twenty years. The majority of this increase will take place in today’s developing countries, especially in India. According to a recent study conducted by National Family Health Survey-4, 20% of 125 million Indians are suffering from diabetes.

To bring in awareness among people regarding diabetes and the significance of timely diagnosis and persistent observation, FORCE-GW (Federation of Resident Welfare Association, Communities and Establishments of Greater Whitefield) in association with Columbia Asia Hospital, Whitefield is organizing a Diabetes Walkathon on 12th November, 2017.
The 3 kms walkathon will be flagged off by the Chief Guests Hon. Sri. P C Mohan, MP Bangalore Central and Hon. Sri Arvind Limbavalli, MLA Mahadevapura constituency.

The Walkathon will commence from the Seegehalli Government School, Whitefield-Hoskote Road and cover the following routes on the way.

This initiative is a part of our constant effort to create awareness among the public on common but risky health issues, and ensure quality healthy living of our citizens, said Mr. Pratyush Srivastava, General Manager, Columbia Asia Hospital, Whitefield.

“This is the third edition of the Walkathon and we are very proud to state that more and more communities are participating. Last year we had 1200 + people participating in the Walkathon and this year we anticipate over 2000 people. It has been our endeavour to facilitate access to world class medical care at a nominal cost to the economically backward patients suffering from Diabetes. Our partnership with Columbia Asia in this edition of the Walkathon will provide the right platform to realise our goals of a healthy environment for the people in this locality” said Lingaraj Urs, President, FORCE GW.
