Defence Minister Arun Jaitley during his visit to Amritsar on Monday.
Jalandhar, August 18, 2014: Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, arrived at Amritsar on Monday on his one day visit. He was accompanied by Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag, Chief of the Army Staff. On arrival, the Defence Minister Arun Jaitley was received by Lt Gen KJ Singh, Western Army Commander, Lt General NP Singh Hira, Vajra Corps Commander and Maj Gen PS Sandhu, Panther Division commander.
He visited Headquarters of Panther division wherein he was given a comprehensive briefing on the overall dynamics of Western Sector including the operational preparedness. Later in the day, Arun Jaitley visited the forward posts around Dera Baba Nanak area along the International Border (IB) and interacted with troops, as part of motivation and welfare, The Defence Minister gifted motivation and incentives to troops.
