Ludhiana, August 28, 2012: Federation of Punjab Small Industries Associations (FOPSIA) has strongly opposed the increase in VAT by .5% and continuation of E-TRIP system.

In a statement here today, the FOPSIA president Badish K. Jindal said the industry of Punjab was not in a position to pay more and more taxes to the state.

“This has also proved that the state government has no respect or regards for the BJP, as even after the appeal of the Core Committee of state unit of BJP for not increasing the VAT and cancellation of E-TRIP the SAD has implemented both on the trade and Industry”, he remarked.

Adding, he said on one side the state government was giving the huge subsidies of more than Rs. 5,800 crore to the agriculture sector whereas and on the other hand it was penalising the industry for the recovery of such cheap publicity policies.

He said they requested BJP that “BJP, which is the party of traders and industrialists and is in the power just due to this sector, so after this decision of the SAD it must quit the government and join the industry to protest against such anti industry policies.”
