BJP District Jalandhar writes to SEC and DC-cum-DRO Jalandhar; Seeks re-scheduling of municipal corporation elections

Jalandhar, December 2, 2017: BJP District Jalandhar president Ramesh Sharma and general secretary Raman Pabbi today wrote to State Election Commissioner Punjab and DC-cum-District Returning Officer Jalandhar demanding re-scheduling of municipal corporation elections.
The letter that has been shot off today, reads that the Punjab State Election Commission has issued the schedule of municipal corporation elections of Jalandhar, Amritsar and Patiala in which the period of December 2, 2017 to December 6, 2017 have been fixed for the filing of the nomination papers.

The letter further reads that the BJP District Jalandhar have received the voter lists of 42 wards out of 80 wards up till now i.e at 6.40 pm of 2nd December 2017.
Further, the letter reads that the wards number of the voter lists received up till now i.e at 6.40 pm of December 2, 2017 are 1, 7, 17, 19, 22, 24 to 40, 57 to 59, 61, 62, 64 to 75, 77, 78, 80.
It has also been stated that BJP District Jalandhar has not received the voter lists of total 80 wards. Hence the same are not ready.

The representation further said that the aspirant candidates have not been able to file their nomination papers due to the non availablity of the voter lists and have been deprived of their right of filing the nomination papers.
At the end, the representation reads; "It is therefore prayed that the municipal corporation elections may kindly be re-scheduled after making the voter lists of complete wards ready and available for the voters.
