APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR PRE MATRIC AND POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

Ludhiana, June 22, 2017: Applications for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships Schemes has been invited from students with Disabilities. While giving reference from the letter received from Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal said that under this scheme student with disabilities can file their application online.
He said that the last date for filling applications for Pre-Matric is September 30, 2017 whereas for Post-Matric is October 31, 2017 and for renewal of scholarship is July 30, 2017. The objectives of the schemes are to provide financial assistance to the parents of students with disabilities for studying in the pre-matric level and post-matric level. The financial assistance includes scholarship, book grant, escort/reader allowance, etc.
This scheme is helpful to support parents of students with disabilities for education of their wards studying in classes 9th and 10th onward so that the incidence of drop out especially in the transition from the elementary to the secondary stage is minimized.
Scheme will improves participation of students with disabilities in classes 9th and 10th and at the stage of post matric stage of education also and support students to study further in order to prepare themselves to earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in the society as they face several barriers physical, financial, psychological, mental in pursuing studies and living with dignity. At times such students are deprived of harnessing their latent skills and thereby miss opportunity. Mr. Agrawal appealed to parents of students with disabilities to avail the scheme.
