Chennai, November 9, 2017: In its many years of journey, Aishwarya Trust is collaborating with Fortis Malar Hospital to conduct awareness campaigns on Congenital Heart Disorders (CHD). Accordingly, a total of 21 children has been identified recently with severe heart ailments. The paediatric cardiac surgeons at Fortis Malar Hospital will treat these children while the trust is going to assist with expenses.

Talking about this initiative, Chitra Viswanathan, Trustee of Aishwarya Trust said “Every year thousands of children are born with severe congenital heart defects in India. Aishwarya Trust seeks to reduce the number of preventable deaths associated with CHD. By funding a part of the surgery, seeking donations and co-ordinating with Fortis Malar, we are able to facilitate such required surgeries. Seeing these children lead happy and healthy lives, has spurred us to redouble our efforts. We hope to increase the magnitude of our assistance in future.”

Dr. Suresh Rao, Head of Department of Cardiac Anaesthesia and Cardiac Critical Care, Fortis Malar Hospital said “There are a lot of underprivileged children who require cardiac surgery and Rehabitation. Ms. Chitra is a great humanitarian and she’s doing a remarkable job by helping the children through Aishwarya Trust. With the support and contribution of Aishwarya Trust, the mortality rate of the children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) has reduced significantly.”

Since December 2009, the Trust has been associated with Fortis Malar in supporting needful children with heart diseases. The contribution from the Trust has helped more than 1,600 children in the past, and they aspire to continue their support. Started with an aim to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), they have also touched the lives of over a lakh of children through their free screening program to enable early detection and timely surgery to save precious lives.
