Acid attack victim Harpreet Kaur succumbs to burn injuries in Mumbai

Ludhiana, December 27, 2013: The December 7, 2013 acid attack victim Harpreet Kaur, succumbed to burn injuries at National Burn Center Mumbai on Friday morning.
Confirming this, the Sarabha Nagar police SHO Harpal Singh Grewal said with the latest development they had added section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code in the case.
Replying to a question, the police officer told that the police were still to file a challan in the court. The accused had already been arrested in this case.
It may be recalled here that in this tragic incident, Harpreet was attacked with acid on December 7 at a beauty salon, where she had gone for bridal make-up. She had sustained more than 50 percent burn injuries in the acid attack.
After the incident the local police had arrested all six accused in the case, including a woman. The accused who were arrested included Amitpal Kaur alias Dimpy alias Pari of Patiala and her paramour Parvinder Singh alias Vicky alias Pawan of Bakshiwala of Patiala. Besides, Sunpreet Singh alias Sunny of Bakshiwala of Patiala; Jaspreet Singh alias Mattu of village ranged of Amloh; Gurtej Singh alias Brar of Patiala and Rakesh Kumar alias Premi of Amloh were also arrested in the case. All these accused were arrested after a few days of the incident. Amitpal Kaur is divorced wife of brother of fiance of the deceased. She had allegedly hatched a conspiracy to get revenge from the family. She had promised to pay Rs.10 lakh to Parvinder Singh for it. The former had paid Rs. 1.50 lakh as an advance to the latter.
After the condition of Harpreet Kaur got deteriorated she was air lifted to National Burn Center Mumbai on December 12.
