56th Annual Athletic Meet at GNDEC - Day 2

Ludhiana, March 2, 2016: Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana organized a two day 56th Annual Athletic Meet which was inaugurated on 1st March, 2016 and came to a fantastic close on the evening of 2nd March, 2016.

In continuation to day 1, various track and field events like 3000m, 5000m, 100m finals, 4*100 m relay, 4*400m relay, tug of war took place on day 2 of the meet. To add on to the importance of sports for every window of life, various races among the teaching and non-teaching staff of GNDEC were held. Scintillating performances by the athletes pumped up the sportsman spirit of all.

Chief Guest for the meet- Brig. Labh Singh (Olympian and Dhyanchand Award Winner) and guest of honor Lt. Col. Rajeev Bagga (Admin Officer 3 Pb BN NCC) along with The Director awarded the students. The prize distribution ceremony took place and winners marched proudly to the Victory stand to receive their medals, certificates and trophies. Mandeep Kaur of D4 Information Technology and Simran Singh of D3 Mechanical Engineering were declared the best athletes in the girls and boys respective divisions. Computer Science and Engineering department among girls and Mechanical Engineering department among boys were declared as the best department. The Director expressed his satisfaction at the performance of the students and declared the meet closed.

The Chief Guest congratulated the participants, winners and organizers of the event.

The Sports Day Celebrations Concluded with the lowering of the University flag. All the faculty members and a large number of students were present on this occasion. In the last, Dr. (Mrs.) Gunjan Bhardwaj, Sec. Sports thanked all the conveners and organizing committee student members for organizing such a wonderful event.
